The Tallman Hotel, 95550 Main Street, Upper Lake

The 17th annual Blue Wing Blues Festival in the beautiful Tallman Hotel garden features two great bands each night plus a barbeque dinner. Headliner for opening night of the Festival will be the veteran bluesman John Primer and his band.

Chicago blues legend John Primer is the real deal. Starting as the bandleader and guitarist for legends such as Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and Magic Slim & The Teardrops. In 1995, John went out on his own to form the Real Deal Blues Band and he’s been travelling the world as a musician, songwriter and bandleader ever since. He has recorded 17 albums under his own name and received 3 Grammy nominations among numerous other awards including induction into the Blues Hall of Fame. In addition to John, the Band tonight consists of Steve Bell on the blues harp, Brady Kish on bass and Dave Hudson on drums.

Opening for the Primer Band will be Bay Area blues vocalist Otilia Donaire and her band. A hit in past shows at the Blue Wing, Otilia Donaire is a staple on the Bay Area music scene. She sings with an infectiouns energy and a powerful, sexy and gritty vocal style reminiscent of icons like Koko Taylor and Janis Joplin. The all-star band backing her tonight will include Pamela Charlles-Arthur on keys, Joe Lococo on guitar, Edgar San Gabriel on bass and Robi Bean on drums.
